Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is Ready to Step Down as President

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he is willing to step down if his country becomes a member of the Western military alliance NATO. Zelensky made the comments at a press conference on Sunday. News from the BBC.

"If you ask me to step down from this chair, I am ready to do so," Zelenskyy said. I can do the same in exchange for Ukraine's membership in NATO.

Trump called Zelensky a "dictator." some day ago, and Zelensky then announced his resignation.

"I wasn't bothered [because of Trump's comments], but an authoritarian ruler would have been annoyed," Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian president also said at the news conference that he wants to see Trump as a partner of Ukraine. He wants the US president to play a bigger role than a mediator between Kiev and Moscow.

Zelensky was democratically elected president of Ukraine in 2019. Then on February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation in Ukraine. Since then, the war has been going on for three years. There are reports of many casualties on both sides.

Since coming to power, Trump has started various activities to stop the war in Ukraine. In the meantime, senior officials of his administration have met with Russia in Saudi Arabia. Ukraine was not included in the talks.
