Bank Robbery Happened Only in Bangladesh

Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H. Mansur

There has never been such a big disaster in the financial sector using the state in any country of the world. There is weak bank management in the outside world, there is inflation;

Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H. Mansur has said that the incident of looting of banks has happened only in Bangladesh. He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a meeting titled 'Current State and Future Outline of the Country's Economy' held at Nilphamari Government College on Sunday. The governor of Bangladesh Bank said, we will set up all the banks. We guarantee that we will return the money of each depositor.

So, we'll restructure the banks in such a way and bring them under management in such a way that they can stand as strong banks," she said. "It's not just a bank; seven banks were looted. Money has been laundered abroad by looting these seven banks using the state by using political influence.

Regarding the turning around of the banks, the governor said some banks are turning around well. Islami Bank is one of them. The turnaround is because depositors are committed to the bank. They know the bank was good. This confidence is important for the banking sector. If we can give confidence to the banking sector, it is easy to turn around.

The governor said a family owned seven banks and financial institutions, which was illegal. Over 80 percent of the shares of Islami Bank are held by a family named S Alam Group. How did they get it? This is a complete failure of the state machinery, the failure of Bangladesh Bank. They have been protected from the highest levels of the state.

Mentioning that it will take time to return the siphoned money, the governor said efforts are underway to bring back several lakh crores of smuggled money to the country. We have formed many joint investigation teams.

In addition, we are in contact with the United States, England, European Union government agencies and the World Bank. We are also taking technical and legal assistance from them.

Principal of the college Professor Mahbubur Rahman Bhuiyan presided over the meeting while Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Nayiruzzaman was present as special guest.
