In a strong statement, U.S. President Donald Trump has reiterated his administration’s stance against the purchase of Iranian oil and petrochemical products, warning of immediate sanctions for any entity engaging in such trade.

Trump’s remarks, shared on Truth Social on Thursday, declared that individuals or nations purchasing Iranian oil would be subjected to secondary sanctions, effectively barring them from doing business with the United States in any capacity.

This announcement follows the unexpected postponement of the scheduled U.S.-Iran meeting in Rome regarding Iran’s nuclear program. A senior Iranian official, speaking to Reuters, indicated that the rescheduling of the meeting would depend on Washington’s approach in the coming days.

The Trump administration has previously imposed sanctions on a crude oil storage facility in China and an independent refinery, accusing them of violating embargoes on Iranian oil.

In February of this year, Trump reinstated his maximum-pressure policy, aiming to eliminate Iran’s oil exports entirely and prevent the country from advancing its nuclear ambitions.

This escalation in U.S. policy underscores the tense geopolitical landscape, as the Biden administration had previously eased some restrictions. Analysts suggest that Trump’s renewed hardline stance may significantly impact international energy markets.
