Pakistan's government has announced that several of the nation's most distinguished athletes will receive its highest civilian honours in a ceremony scheduled for March 23, 2026. The awards, which recognize exceptional contributions to the country, were publicly announced on Independence Day and are set to be officially conferred by President Asif Ali Zardari on Pakistan Day. This recognition serves as a powerful tribute to the enduring impact these sports luminaries have had on national pride.
The prestigious Hilal-i Imtiaz, the country's second-highest civilian award, will be presented to three iconic figures. Cricket legend and former captain Shahid Khan Afridi is being honoured for his enduring legacy and remarkable career as an all-rounder. He will be joined by mountaineer Shehroz Kashif, who has represented Pakistan on the world stage, and the late equestrian Muhammad Ata.
The Sitara-i Imtiaz, Pakistan's third-highest civilian award, will be conferred upon two athletes who have excelled in their respective fields. Sana Mir, a trailblazing former captain of the women's cricket team, is being recognized for her significant contributions to the sport. Additionally, Haider Ali, a distinguished discus thrower, will receive the honour for his prowess and for representing the nation on the world stage.
A broad range of sporting disciplines are being celebrated with the Pride of Performance awards, which highlight excellence across various arenas. The honours will be given to:

- Mohsin Nawaz (shooting)
- Rashid Malik (tennis)
- Shahzaib Rind (karate)
- Muhammad Sajjad (kabaddi)
